In a special pull-out section about green energy, an altered version of the anti-Kinnock headline appeared in The Sun featuring Labour Prime Minister Gordon Brown and the words "Will the last person in Britain to switch to energy-saving bulbs please turn out the old lights" next to an image of Brown's head in a lightbulb.

The song is called "Switch Out The Sun". Written by David McNiven who was in a great wee group called Bread, Love and Dreams at the time. He went on to do lots of stuff with Wildcat Theater Company and I assume still collects royalties for the "Rab C. Nesbitt" theme.

I don't feel the sun's comin' out today. It's staying in, it's gonna find another way. As I sit here in this misery, I don't think I'll ever—no, Lord—see the sun from here. And, oh, as I fade away, They'll all look at me and say— And they'll say, "Hey look at him! I'll never live that way." But that's okay. They're just afraid to change.

The sun is a star, just like the other stars we see at night. The difference is distance -- the other stars we see are light-years away, while our sun is only about 8 light minutes away -- many thousands of times closer. Officially, the sun is classified as a G2 type star, based on its temperature and the wavelengths or spectrum of light that it emits.
